WA: Hundreds gather to farewell Olympic great Strickland

PERTH, Feb 27 AAP - Mourners including former Olympic champions, state governors, past
and present state premiers and hundreds of fans are gathering in Perth for the funeral
of one of Australia's greatest Olympic athletes, Shirley Strickland de la Hunty.

De la Hunty, who died at her Perth home earlier this month aged 78, won three gold,
a silver and three bronze in an Olympic career spanning three games, as well as three
gold and two silver medals at the 1950 Empire Games.
